EU naval force tackling post-monsoon Somali piracy surgeNorthwood Headquarters, England (AFP) March 31, 2010 The EU naval force protecting shipping off Somalia said Wednesday it had disrupted 18 pirate gangs during March as bandits return to the seas following the monsoon season. EU Navfor said that this month it saw double the number of groups encountered in September, October and November put together as pirates resume activity in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. Huge blaze at Indian army munitions depotKolkata (AFP) March 26, 2010 A fire ripped through one of the Indian army's largest ammunition depots on Friday, destroying 150 tonnes of explosives and ammunition, military sources said. Military spokesman Mahesh Upasani said the blaze broke out at the Panagarh army base 120 kilometres (75 miles) west of Kolkata at 1:30 am but had since been brought under control.
