Raytheon and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace of Norway are in a teaming agreement for continuing development and production of Kongsberg's Naval Strike Missile.
The missile, which can be fired from land or sea, is for use against land and maritime targets. It has a range of more than 124 miles and is currently operational with the Royal Norwegian Navy and is part of Poland's land-based coastal defense system.
"Raytheon and Kongsberg have a proud history of consistent partnerships to produce and improve the world's most trusted weapon systems," said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, Raytheon Missile Systems president. "This agreement enables us to bring a complete suite of solutions to the warfighter for the critical OASuW (offensive anti-surface warfare) mission."
Added Kongsberg Defense Systems President Harald Annestad: "We are very pleased to be extending our teaming with Raytheon to also include the proven NSM."
The two companies last year entered into a similar agreement for development of the Joint Strike Missile, the air-launched version of the NSM.
