by Staff Writers Moscow (Sputnik) Jul 09, 2015 Sputnik

Russian President Vladimir Putin and South African President Jacob Zuma said that launching a program of development of South Africa's nuclear energy was a priority, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"As a priority the launch of a program of development of nuclear energy in the South African Republic," Peskov told journalists, adding that Russia has "serious potential" for cooperation.

Putin and Zuma also discussed resuming military-technical cooperation between the countries, the Kremlin spokesman said.

"The discussion included the resumption of military-technical cooperation," Peskov told reporters following a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the SCO and BRICS summits in Ufa.
