Navy will receive readiness and logistics support from SAIC

Supply chain management and logistics support services are to be supplied by SAIC to the U.S. Navy's Fleet Readiness Centers.

The centers provide naval aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities and services and also produce airframes, engines, components and support equipment.

Under the Fleet Readiness Centers Industrial Product Support Vendor contract, issued by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, Science Applications International Corp. will help the Navy reduce the time and cost for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of weapons systems by maintain a fill-rate of 99 percent for all items of supply covered by stock replenishment requirements.

"SAIC is proud to continue supporting DLA and the Navy's FRCs by providing cost-effective supply chain management and logistics services," said Mark Escobar, SAIC's senior vice president and general manager of Department of Defense Agencies and Commands. "We have been the contractor of choice for FRC IPV since 2004, and we look forward to working closely with DLA and the FRCs over the next 10 years."

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a three-year base period of performance, two two-year options, and one three-year option. It carries a total potential value of $240 million.
