Lockheed Martin Australia is to provide centralized data processing services to Australia's Department of Defense.
The services, under a contract worth about $740 million, will consolidate infrastructure and applications and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of data center delivery, the department said.
"Centralized processing will deliver a smaller number of more reliable and resilient data centers, from within 280 data centers to 11 domestically and three internationally," said Defense Department Chief Information Officer Dr. Peter Lawrence. "The partnership will deliver Defense with a robust and secure technology environment, while creating greater efficiencies; simplifying our service provision and speeding up our response to change."
Additional details of Lockheed's partnering contract with the Department of Defense were not disclosed.
