Singapore ship with Chinese crew hijacked off Somalia
Beijing (AFP) June 28, 2010
A Singapore-flagged cargo ship with 19 Chinese crew aboard was hijacked Monday by pirates in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia, maritime authorities said. The MV Golden Blessing, a petroleum and chemical tanker, was travelling to India from Saudi Arabia when it was hijacked. The shipowner said the crew was reported to be safe. Indian customs officers Sunday seized the third shipment of tiger bones and other animal parts, worth 230,000 dollars and destined for use in traditional medicine in China. South Korea and India agreed Friday to launch talks on forging a nuclear energy cooperation pact, the foreign ministry said, a deal which would pave the way for Seoul's export of an atomic power plant.
