Cyclone bears down on India's southeast coast

A "severe" cyclone packing winds of up to 125 kilometres an hour closed in on India's southeast coast Wednesday as thousands of residents evacuated their homes fearing major storm damage. Cyclone Laila was set to slam into the state of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday morning, with forecasters warning of a sea surge and disrupted power and communication lines. The Indian army is looking to buy vehicle and cargo scanners to detect hidden arms, ammunition, explosives, contraband and counterfeit currency. The Indian Ministry of Defense has initiated a request for information from suppliers and manufacturers of the scanners that must be able to handle whole standard trucks and those loaded with containers.
