Indian biofuel efforts falter
New Delhi (UPI) Apr 27, 2010

Pakistan war games show of force for India: analysts
Khairpur Tamewali, Pakistan (AFP) April 20, 2010
Pakistan is flexing its military might near the Indian border in massive war games analysts say are aimed at putting on a show of force for its nuclear-armed rival. All branches of the military are taking part in the exercises named "New Resolve", which despite the Taliban militant threat in the northwest have so far focused on drills for conventional war on the eastern border with India. ... more

India Sees Big Setback In Cryogenic Engine Tech Efforts
New Delhi, India (VOA) Apr 19, 2010
India's ambitious attempt to master a technology needed to launch heavy satellites into space has not succeeded. This could setback the country's hopes of getting a bigger share of the multibillion dollar global satellite launch market. The launch of a rocket using a domestically built cryogenic engine Thursday evening from Sriharikota in southern India was meant to demonstrate India's mas ... more

GSAT-4 Rocket Lost, But Precious Payload Safe

A fateful but providential decision by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) saved a precious Indo-Israeli science payload from crashing into the sea in the failed GSLV launch mission Thursday. Indian rocket flops, crashing into sea
Bangalore, India (AFP) April 15, 2010
An Indian rocket showcasing domestically built booster technology crashed soon after take-off on Thursday in a blow to the country's space ambitions, officials said. The launch of the first Indian-made cryogenic powered rocket, a complex technology mastered by just five countries, failed soon after lift-off from India's space centre at Sriharikota in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh. "The rocket along with the satellite tumbled from space and plunged into the Bay of Bengal," Indian Space ... read more
