    Washington (AFP) June 22, 2009
Access to green technology is becoming a growing stumbling block in global efforts to fight climate change, with US lawmakers bristling at what they see as China's attempt to "steal" US know-how. China and India have led calls for developed nations to share technology to help them battle global warming as the clock ticks to a December meeting in Copenhagen meant to seal a successor to the ... more

BRIC group takes a shot at USD supremacy
Brasilia, Brazil (UPI) Jun 22, 2009
Brazil and fellow up-and-coming economies Russia, India and China discussed how they could exert greater sway over the global financial system at their first summit in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg last week, but they surprised observers with toned-down talk about reducing the world's reliance on the U.S. dollar. India on Thursday called on the United States, China and other powers to return to talks immediately to frame a world trade accord instead of waiting for recovery from the global economic crisis. Beijing (AFP) June 18, 2009
China angrily denounced Thursday the approval by the Asian Development Bank of a 2.9-billion-dollar funding plan for India, saying the scheme encroached on a territorial dispute between the Asian giants. "The Asian Development Bank, regardless of the major concerns of China, approved the India Country Partnership strategy which involves the territorial dispute between China and India," ... more

The twin summits this week in Russia provide a venue for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to meet, but whether that will revive suspended talks between their nations as sought by the United States cannot be answered. Singh and Zadari will be at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and that of the four emerging economies of Brazil ... more

Dayan's presence in the Indian capital on Sept. 11, 2001, was, of course, pure happenstance. But the events of that fateful day cemented a strategic ... more
